What To Expect The Process Engineering Technician BIW performs process sustaining tasks for the manufacturing line on a variety of mechanical and electrical processes including response to out-of-control process, work on yield improvement projects, disposition of special case non-conforming materials that come from the manufacturing line, qualifying new equipment and processes that are being introduced into the manufacturing line. Perform supporting activities for engineering and manufacturing including 5S and Lean manufacturing activities, yield improvement, scrap reduction, production line configuration, and safety procedures (SQDC). BIW Tech will be responsible for managing welding projects and supervising the welding team. The responsibilities include providing consulting services, coordinating multiple projects, and overseeing the welding procedure.
What You'll Do
Provide daily coverage/production line processes to ensure smooth and effective operations, including a rapid response to out-of-control processes to minimize cost and maximize productivity
Investigate and implement countermeasures to improve process Cpk and product yield
Execute experiments and analyze data under the direction of process engineers including but not limited to DOE, GR&R
Lead special case disposition of non-conformance materials produced by the production line and elevate to the production engineering team as needed
Maintain and help develop up-to-date maintenance and calibration procedures and schedules, while supporting Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives
Responsible for parts and tools inventory, improving fixture repeatability, managing welding procedure qualifications and generating welding procedures to help the manufacturing and welding teams
Conducting failure analyses and cause analyses on welding issues
What You'll Bring
Associate Degree in Electronic, Metallurgy, Welding, Technical Certificate, or equivalent experience
Reading and understanding blueprints prior to starting a project, plus ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
Proven ability to handle multiple priorities with minimal direction contributing to a positive, team-oriented work environment
Demonstrates adherence to EHS regulations and standards and leads by example
Strong organization and record-keeping skills with strong attention to detail, with a command of the English language, both written and verbal
Knowledge in Fanuc Robot, WTC Weld Controller, Lincoln power source – Power Wave preferred
Knowledge in Resistance Spot Welding (RSW), GMAW MIG/MAG, Destructive Test (DT), and Nondestructive Test (DT) preferred
Physical Essential Demands
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, arm protection, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
