What you need. Position Summary
The Press Maintenance Controls Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing electrical and control systems supporting mechanical, hydraulic, and servo-driven press equipment. This role focuses on press controls, PLCs, safety circuits, and automation systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient press operation.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control systems on press equipment (mechanical, hydraulic, servo presses)
Diagnose PLC, HMI, VFD, servo drive, and motion control issues related to press operation
Maintain and troubleshoot press safety systems including light curtains, safety relays, interlocks, and e-stops
Perform electrical troubleshooting on motors, encoders, sensors, valves, and control panels
Support press installations, upgrades, retrofits, and control system modifications
Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, press documentation, and OEM manuals
Perform PLC and HMI backups, monitoring, and limited programming changes
Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities on press control systems
Document control changes and maintain accurate system backups
Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout and electrical safety standards
Collaborate with maintenance, tooling, engineering, and production teams to reduce press downtime
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or GED
5+ years of industrial maintenance or controls experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and press control architecture
Experience with press safety systems and industrial safety standardsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred:
Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Automation, or Mechatronics
Experience with fineblanking, stamping, or high-tonnage press equipment
Familiarity with servo presses, hydraulic systems, and motion control
Experience with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Profinet)
Experience with robotics, transfer systems, or press automationElectrical license or relevant certifications
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, climb, and kneel for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to work safely around press equipment and industrial machinery
