Job Summary The Fitter is responsible for assembling and fitting metal components according to specifications, ensuring precision and quality in the fabrication process. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols to contribute effectively to production operations.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret technical drawings and work orders to determine project requirements.
Assemble and fit metal components using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
Ensure proper alignment and positioning of components before welding or fastening.
Perform quality checks on fitted assemblies, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or defects.
Prepare surfaces by grinding, cleaning, or cutting to achieve precise fits and joints.
Collaborate with Welders and other production team members to meet project deadlines.
Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean, functional, and ready for use.
Follow all workplace safety guidelines, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (technical certifications or training preferred).
2+ years of experience in fitting or metal fabrication in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in reading schematics and technical drawings.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Ability to use measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers, accurately.
Problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues with components or assemblies.
Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks and handle heavy materials.
Authorization to work in the United States. We do not provide sponsorship.
Physical And Environmental Requirements
Frequent standing, bending, and lifting of materials up to 50 pounds.
Regular exposure to noise, heat, and airborne particles in a manufacturing environment.
The ability to wear required protective gear, such as gloves, goggles, and steel‑toed boots.
