Location: North Charleston, South Carolina,
Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA)
Type: Full‑time, Shift: Variable shift (Shift 4). This position is 100 % onsite.
As an experienced aircraft assembler, you will assist with multiple areas of the 787 production system, leveraging your prior experience, training, and certifications to complete daily assigned tasks effectively. Your responsibilities will include interpreting intricate drawings, ensuring defect‑free work, and maintaining compliance with FAA and Boeing Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
Position Responsibilities
Complete the New Hire Training Cycle Flow to obtain and maintain all required certifications.
Adhere to high standards of safety and quality.
Comply with FAA and Boeing QMS requirements.
Ensure work conforms to engineering drawings and specifications, achieves First Pass Quality (FPQ), and is free from foreign object debris.
Use computers and software applications in a production environment.
Read, interpret, and apply technical work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment as determined by the task.
Operate mechanical lifts (ladders, tiger and aerial lifts).
Use various hand tools.
Climb, balance, crawl, crouch, and work in confined spaces and around energized sources, while handling constant noise exposure.
Perform finger manipulation tasks and read from computer screens, printed drawings, or documents.
Carry or lift 10–35 pounds, and perform flexion/extension, kneeling, bending, reaching overhead, rotating the head/neck, standing, twisting, and walking.
Apply sealant to surfaces per specifications.
Install aircraft system components such as panel installs.
Use chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints, and finishes.
Work in confined spaces and use respirators.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
Ability to work a variable shift.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Ability to qualify and use a respirator.
Ability to meet physical demands: flexion, extension, handling, kneeling, bending, reaching overhead, rotating, standing, twisting, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching.
Ability to carry/lift 10–35 pounds.
Ability to work with high‑hazard chemicals.
Minimum 6 months experience with software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite, or specialized applications.
Minimum 6 months experience using and following detailed work instructions, reading, and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications in English.
Minimum 6 months experience in a technical or mechanical field performing work with basic hand, power, or pneumatic tools.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
3 + years related work experience or equivalent education/experience.
1 + year experience applying sealant per specifications.
1 + year experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and aviation material processes.
1 + year experience installing aircraft system components such as tubing, valves, regulators, actuators, compressors, and ducts.
