Responsibilities
Safely perform emergency and preventative electrical repairs to plant equipment and infrastructure.
Respond to the production supervisor’s needs during unplanned electrical failures on the production line.
Assist the Maintenance Manager or Engineer with electrical design issues and the application of new process controls.
Troubleshoot PLC drive components, preferably Allen Bradley systems such as SLC 500, RSLogix 5/500/5000, PLC5, Control Logix, Micrologix, and PanelView.
Work safely on 120/240/480V equipment and Temp/P.I.D. controls.
Enter and complete work orders using the company work order system as directed by the maintenance supervisor or planner.
Implement lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and report unsafe conditions.
Document changes to plant process control equipment and ensure PLC programs are properly backed up.
Train electrical technicians on plant equipment troubleshooting.
Communicate maintenance issues to supervisors and planners for scheduling repairs.
Adhere to the quality and environmental management system principles at BlueScope.
Collaborate daily with production and quality control personnel to resolve problems and achieve company goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
Hold a technical diploma in electrical or electronic technology; or have 3+ years of experience as an Electrical Technician or equivalent education and experience.
