Zone Mechanic – Full Time

The Zone Mechanic will have a strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment on all systems. Individuals are expected to demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (electrical, HVAC, piping/plumbing, central utility plant operations) and be multi-skilled in others in order to successfully complete daily/weekly work assignments. The Zone Mechanic assists and serves as back-up to other Facilities employees.

Education High school diploma or GED required.
Experience Three to five years general commercial maintenance experience working in at least one relevant trade in a commercial, industrial, facilities operations, or a healthcare setting. This needs to include knowledge and applicable skills in troubleshooting, repair and maintenance in commercial electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, boilers, or HVAC systems. (Residential-only experience is insufficient for this position.)
Certification & Licensures Certification as a Journeyman, Apprentice, or in a commercial building-specific trade (E.g. HVAC, plumbing, electrical, BAS, etc.), or already working towards a certification preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license (over 21 year old and less than -4 points on their driver’s license).
Qualifications
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Must have good problem solving skills, ability to prioritize work, and be able to work independently.
Knowledge of commercial building automation systems (BAS) preferred.
Knowledge of standard practices and procedures of construction trades such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting and mechanical systems.
Must have general computer knowledge; preferably with Microsoft Windows.
Read and comprehend plans and blueprints preferred.
Hospitals operate 24/7, must be willing to work overtime and off-hours for emergency situations.
Ability to operate and use a broad spectrum of tools and equipment skillfully and safely.
