Job Overview Patient Care and Prevention Facilities (PC&PF) is fundamental to the daily operations of MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Instrumentation Technician – HVAC / Building Automation Systems (BAS) maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots buildings, equipment, and utility systems using specialized trade skills. Responsibilities include responding to critical alarms, maintaining records, conducting water quality tests, and ensuring pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers operate safely and efficiently.
Work Schedule Monday–Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Salary Range USD 57,500 – 72,000 – 86,500

Responsibilities
Repair and maintain building and utility equipment, including pumps, valves, steam systems, vacuum pumps, compressors, water softeners, and heat exchangers
Respond to customer calls, provide customer service, and communicate status of deliverables
Triage critical equipment alarms, make repairs, and notify management of recognized repairs
Conduct water quality analysis and data recording on city water surge tanks, chlorine testing, hardness sampling, RO/DI sampling, and domestic hot water systems
Keep records of materials, jobs, and other pertinent information; prepare and submit reports
Coordinate regulatory inspections, vendor work, and participation in design phases and review processes
Investigate outages, engage in process improvement initiatives, and precept staff as needed
Emergency responses for facilities, including code red alarms
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Four years electronic, building automated systems and pneumatic controls experience, including two years electrical experience (two years with Journeyman Electrician’s license and one year electrical experience)
Preferred
Universal EPA, TDLR Certified HVAC License, TDLR HVAC Contractors License, or Electrical License
Additional Information Onsite Presence: Is Required
This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
