Position Overview:

The Laminator creates components for boats by applying fiberglass to a mold. The role ensures all areas of the mold are covered with sufficient resin‑saturated fiberglass matting to provide the desired strength. The Laminator applies resin using a chop gun or hands, presses the matting into the mold, removes air bubbles, manages spacing blocks for two‑part molds, mixes resins and removes cured product.

Responsibilities:

Ensure required parts and raw materials are ready when scheduled.

Arrange material in a specified order or pattern according to documentation using numbers, letters, words, or pictures.

Spray fiberglass and/or lay fiberglass sheets on the part mold.

Press layers into place and use a roller to smooth wrinkles or voids.

Operate fiberglass chop guns.

Use hands, arms, and rollers to handle, install, position, and manipulate material.

Use micrometers to gauge gel coats and fiberglass application.

Keep material and storage area clean, organized.

Participate in continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives.

Participate in EH&S and Quality initiatives.

Operate material handling equipment such as platform trucks, forklifts, aerial work platforms, pallet jacks, overhead hoists, etc.

Wear required PPE (respirators, gloves, chemical‑resistant aprons, suits).

Experience & Qualifications:

High school diploma, GED, or 1+ year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Basic computer knowledge.

Ability to read/interpret verbal or written instructions and exchange accurate information.

Physical Requirements And Activities:

Proactive team player, self‑starter, focused on continuous improvement.

Strong reasoning skills for troubleshooting system discrepancies and kitting errors.

Basic reading and writing skills; works with computer terminals; completes routine paperwork.

Extremely focused, organized, with high attention to detail.

Manages multiple priorities and people.

Requires high energy, creative thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.

Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Familiarity with MRP software and systems.

Marine experience preferred but not required.

Familiarity with modern warehousing practices.

Works on a shop floor environment; non‑climate controlled; temperature fluctuates.

Frequent exposure to high temperatures, humidity, noise, chemicals (resins, fiberglass dust, epoxy, composites).

Requires safety gear: safety glasses, Tyvex apron, half‑mask respirator, other PPE.

Can walk or stand for extended periods; bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, climb; lift or move up to 35 lbs.

Vision: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception.

Shifts:

Multiple shifts available.

Standard schedule: Monday–Thursday 6:00 AM–4:30 PM.

Occasional overtime may be required.

Hourly premium shift differential for night and weekend work.

Pay:

$18.00–$27.40 per hour (actual base pay based on experience, knowledge, business needs, and location).
