Position Summary This position functions as a working supervisor to manage activities on painting jobsites.
Essential Job Functions
Able to read, comprehend, and write correspondence. Communicate with staff, management, customers, and vendors via phone, text, email, and memo.
Able to direct others and give clear instructions; capable of completing forms and maintaining project notes, records, and log books.
Have extensive knowledge of painting products, materials, supplies, and equipment used on a regular basis.
Oversee production and service schedules; update customers as needed; meet with on‑site trades, inspectors, manufacturer reps, owners, as necessary; ensure quality and safety standards are met on each completed job.
Schedule and update project schedules; purchase materials/coordinate deliveries; ensure production is meeting time, labor and material budget; ensure receipts and billing are accurate; monitor financial status of all projects; identify variances and implement corrective action as needed.
Assign tasks, clarify responsibilities on‑site; motivate employees to work together as a team; analyze employee or production problems and recommend solutions; ensure employees are trained and developed.
Ensure staff follows company and OSHA safety guidelines; check safety conditions on job sites.
Inspect work progress, equipment and jobsites to verify quality work is completed to industry standards.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Experience / Education / Competencies
7‑10 years experience in a commercial waterproofing environment; 3‑5 years supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of painting products and materials regularly used on commercial projects.
Skilled sprayer and craftsman.
Ability and willingness to train crews at all levels; ensure crewmembers operate safely.
Medium and small job planning and tasking ability.
Lifts certified, swing stage operator, ladder skills.
Ability to complete accurate daily reports.
Common product knowledge and application standards.
OSHA 10‑hour, First Aid/CPR and fall protection training required.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Pass company background check, including felony and misdemeanor check and drug test.
Possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license.
Use interpersonal skills; focus on solving problems and conflict; keep emotions under control.
Use oral and written communication to receive instructions and ask questions; complete company forms.
Understand teamwork; contribute to building a positive team spirit and put success of team above own interests.
Have balance, stamina, strength and the ability to work rapidly at heights; go over sides of buildings.
Supervisory Responsibility This job has no direct reports, but has responsibility to assign, train, and direct others on painting projects.
Work Environment
The employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places; fumes and airborne particles; moving mechanical parts; and outdoor weather conditions including extreme wind, heat, and humidity. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and cold weather conditions. The noise level is usually loud.
Physical Demands / Requirements
The employee is regularly required to work at heights; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders and balance; work at heights; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Specific vision required by this job includes distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
