Engineering Technician, Equipment - (3rd Shift) AbbVie invites applications for the Engineering Technician, Equipment position on the 3rd shift. This is a full‑time, entry level role based in Puerto Rico.

Job Description & Purpose Provides corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, calibration, programming, configuration, and repair services to manufacturing equipment and instrumentation. The role applies physics, electronics, and mechanics knowledge while adhering to regulatory standards (e.g., National Electric Code, NFPA70E, cGMP, FDA, OSHA). Maintenance tasks are performed to ensure reliability, safety, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Dismantle/assemble equipment, remove and replace instrument, electrical, control and mechanical defective parts, and improve performance of production processes.

Read, interpret and use drawings, electrical and control circuit diagrams (P&ID, ladder diagrams, schematics) for control, mechanical and electrical work.

Support the Control Engineer with troubleshooting PLC and control devices.

Demonstrate proficiency in Predictive Maintenance Technologies and support Reliability Engineering on RCMs and RCAs.

Repair, inspect, modify, and calibrate instrumentation equipment in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Certify instrumentation used for final approval and control of processes, adhering to the established calibration system.

Document calibrations using approved forms and policies, including calibration work orders and tolerance reports.

Carry out preventive, predictive, corrective, and calibration maintenance while following safety rules and procedures.

Comply with AbbVie Policies, plant procedures and cGMP regulations; attend required safety and training.

Provide technical support during emergencies, outside normal working hours, holidays, and weekends.

Continuous standing for prolonged periods (more than two consecutive hours in an eight‑hour shift) is required.

Qualifications

Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Instrumentation, Industrial Mechanics, Electronics, or Electronic Engineering Technology.

At least five years of experience in Electrical/Electronic, PLC, Controls, Instrumentation/Calibration, basic HVAC, and utilities.

Minimum ten years of experience in Industrial Mechanics, HVAC and/or utilities, including repair of mechanical and electro‑pneumatic systems.

Puerto Rico Electrician’s License preferred.

Additional Information & Compensation The pay range for this role is described below. Base pay may vary based on geographic location and other factors.

Base pay range: $90,000 – $100,000 (subject to change).

Benefits include paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan.

Eligibility for short‑term incentive programs.

Payment Statement No amount of pay is considered wages until earned, vested, and determinate. Bonuses, commissions, and incentives are at the company’s discretion.
