Job Summary Job Title: Multi-Craft Field Welder Department: Operations Reports To: Multi-Craft Millwright Foreman FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

At Cherokee Millwright, we are a multi‑craft company that focuses on the needs of our customers by providing multi‑trade personnel to meet unique job requests. Field employees are cross‑trained in trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, etc. This position involves planning, laying out, welding, installing, and repairing all types of metal components in accordance with blueprints, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Additional crafts will be required as directed by supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Laying out pieces to be assembled according to blueprints, schematics, or work orders.

Using manual / semi‑automatic / automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.

Positioning pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.

Inspecting completed work for conformance to specifications.

Performing minor maintenance on equipment.

Observing all standard safety practices, maintaining required records.

Participating in safety committees or initiatives as required.

Incorporating additional craft skills as necessary to meet customer needs.

Qualifications Must be able to pass structural and 6G pipe weld test. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Two or more years of experience with industrial and commercial applications.

Fork lift license may be required.

Ability to operate hydraulic press brake, hydraulic shear, plasma cutting table, various machines (Pittsburg, TDC, etc.), band saw, plasma torch, track torch, MIG and TIG welders, overhead crane, forklift, and related equipment.

Reasoning ability: apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; handle problems with few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands Work requires standing, walking, using hands, reaching, occasional sitting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, possible hazardous chemicals, electrical shock, vibration, and loud noise. Employees may work at heights or in precarious locations.
