Summary:

At Cherokee Millwright, we are a multi-craft company that focuses on the needs of our customers by providing multi-trades personnel to meet the customer’s unique job requests. Therefore, all field employees will be cross-trained in various trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, etc. The focus of this position will be to install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment according to layout plans, rigging plans, blueprints, or other drawings by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.

Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.

Dismantle machines.

Move machinery and equipment, using hoist, dollies, rollers, airbags, and fork trucks.

Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.

Construct foundation for machines; insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.

Align machines and equipment, using hoist, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.

Assemble machines, and bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures.

Use various hand tools, power tools, torches, and welders.

Operate forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift.

Additional skills in other crafts will be necessary to meet our customers need and will be expected in this role.

Supervisory Responsibilities None

Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands The job requires standing, walking, hand use, reaching, and speaking. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment Employees are frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.

Other Duties Job duties may change at any time with or without notice. Duties may include work on millwright, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, mechanical, and rigging projects.
