Job Summary The Phlebotomist (Traveler) represents the face of the organization to patients seeking routine care or critical health insights. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and delivering a safe, accurate, and professional patient experience while maintaining confidentiality and documentation accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture and specimen collection following established forensic and clinical procedures.
Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with approved practices.
Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials/signatures post-venipuncture to confirm accurate specimen labeling.
Explain procedures clearly while creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
Demonstrate leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence, confidentiality, and data accuracy.
Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
Promote a positive organizational image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Support assignments in doctor’s offices, patient service centers, or other locations as business needs dictate.
Complete training at locations that may vary based on trainer availability.
Work Schedule & Availability
Days – Eastern Time
Flexible availability required, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime
Must be available whenever scheduled, arrive on time, and remain for the full shift
Excessive absenteeism or tardiness is not tolerated and may result in termination
Required Experience
Minimum of 2–3 years of professional phlebotomy experience
Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
Experience performing in fast-paced, high-volume environments
Required Skills
Phlebotomy for pediatric and geriatric patients
Patient-focused customer service and communication
Specimen handling, labeling, and documentation accuracy
Preferred Skills
Ability to adapt quickly to change and shifting priorities
Strong collaboration with peers, supervisors, and patients
Additional Skills
Clinical and forensic specimen collection
Multisite coverage with minimal notice
Sound judgment and decision-making using established procedures
Ability to manage multiple priorities in high-volume settings
Credentialing & Compliance
Hospital site assignment requiring additional credentialing
Reliable transportation required (bus, Uber, or rideshare is not considered reliable transportation)
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, if applicable
