Machinist II Position at BD (Tissuemed Ltd)
Job Summary The Machinist II position requires a high level of proficiency to set up and operate machines, use tooling necessary to make or repair parts, and apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, and layout machining procedures. Five years experience as a machinist is expected. The role involves completing work orders on time and cross‑training others to increase shop capabilities.
Sign‑On Bonus Sign‑On Bonus:

Responsibilities
Studies specifications, such as blueprint, sketch, or description of part to be replaced, and plans sequence of operations.
Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.
Sets up and operates lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, drill press and other machining equipment to machine parts to specifications, and verifies conformance of part to specifications using measuring instruments.
Positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable with devices such as vises, V‑blocks, and plates and uses hand tools to fit and assemble parts to assemblies or mechanisms.
Verifies dimensions and alignment with measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges and gauge blocks.
May operate mechanism or machine, observe operation, or test it with inspection equipment to diagnose malfunction of machine or to test repaired machine.
Assists with preventive maintenance on equipment as specified or as required to ensure a smooth start up and operation.
Required to perform welding on all materials and soldering as needed.
Observes all safety and environmental procedures, getting all seven engagement points, and QSRs.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required or in lieu of education, adequate experience will be accepted.
2‑3 years experience as a machinist.
Work Environment
BD is a smoke‑free campus. Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas.
False eyelashes, press‑on fingernails, and jewelry are not allowed on the production floor, including dermals. Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor.
Shoes must be steel‑toe and non‑slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.
