About the Role A Plant Maintenance Technician III is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the company’s equipment, building and grounds in a manner that minimizes interruptions in operations and assures employee safety. This position is responsible for implementing developed programs to extend equipment life and reliability and to ensure safe operations at every level. The Plant Maintenance Technician III reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Initiates requisition for maintenance and repair supplies in sufficient quantity to meet needs of production, building maintenance equipment, materials, and supplies
Performs building and equipment repairs throughout the property according to submitted work orders
Develops and supervises implementation of maintenance programs to include preventative maintenance that extend equipment and building life and reliability as well as assure safe operations at every level
Uses the Balcones Preventive Maintenance System to manage the periodic maintenance of buildings, equipment, and grounds at the facility.
Inspects plant machinery and equipment. Able to supervise repairs and services on all equipment in accordance with the facility Standard Operating Procedures, equipment maintenance manuals, and Balcones policies and training. Must also be knowledgeable to manage non-routine repairs or issues that may arise and require sound, immediate judgment without direct supervision.
Implements Balcones safety policies and practices for all work activities, and ensure these practices are followed by other Balcones staff, vendors, contractors, and visitors entering the facility and all work is done to standard.
Completes all mandatory training activities for both safety and operational training as assigned by management.
Procures plant supplies and replacement equipment in an efficient manner by identifying needs in advance, managing and inventory of spare parts inventory.
Screening and selection of building maintenance materials and supplies
Research pricing of equipment and supplies to identify superior pricing
Prioritizes work orders for completion in a systematic and efficient manner when no direct guidance is given
Initiates work orders for work done in facility
Conducts daily testing of equipment and inspection of the warehouse
Cross-trains in other areas of the business and assist in those areas as needed.
Occasional mandatory overtime
Minimum Job Qualifications
High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
Able to follow instructions for operating equipment and record keeping
Able to execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
Able to maintain a clean & safe environment
Preferred Job Qualifications
Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems (both ac and dc current)
Read and interpret engineering piping and instrument drawings, electrical diagrams and schematics, and electrical logic diagrams
Carpentry, framing and general construction skills
Welding certification and/or welding experience
At least 2 years’ experience in maintaining maintenance facilities, equipment, and tools
Ability to troubleshoot, identify the problem, determine the cause and repair as needed
Working knowledge and experience with multiple hand tools and power tools
Ability to operate/drive a powered pallet jack and forklift, scissor lift and truck
Knowledge of Computers and CMMS programs
Good organizational and critical thinking skills
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Required to use motor coordination with arms, hands, fingers, and legs.
Required to engage in physical activity that includes pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting objects more than 80 pounds.
Required to work from ladders or raised platforms.
Required to stand or work on concrete floors most of the workday.
Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.
Normal setting for this job is material recycle facilities, repair/maintenance facility, outdoors or other facilities
