Job Description Nemco Food Equipment is committed to manufacturing and on‑time delivery of sharpened and punched blades to assembly operations. In this role you will work in a production environment handling blade stock on a spool, grinding rough and finish grinds, and punching to desired lengths. After initial training, productivity and quality requirements must be met. Duration of set‑ups and run times varies. Tasks require eye‑hand coordination, manual dexterity, and repetitive use of both hands and arms. Set‑up experience is a must.
Key Responsibilities
Follow work order routings and complete associated paperwork in accordance with set procedures.
Complete all aspects of job setup—selecting the program, calculating and applying offsets, reading a print, measuring the part for conformance, and applying adjustments as needed.
Troubleshoot unsatisfactory conditions with blade sharpening and punching, including changing tooling, feed and speeds, and identifying equipment performance issues.
Manage tooling inventory.
Perform first‑piece inspection of manufactured parts to meet blueprint specifications and tolerances, and adjust setups accordingly.
Train new operators in setup and operation of equipment.
Be proficient on various machines with minimal supervision or crew leader instruction.
Communicate machine‑related issues—including downtime or damage—to the supervisor or crew leader and report part availability.
Learn the jobs and operate in the Nemco way.
Qualifications
Ability to set up and operate machinery.
Ability to read blueprints and follow specific written instructions and procedures.
Detail oriented with strong time‑management skills.
Proficiency in using measuring tools.
Maintain clean and organized workspace.
Operate forklift safely.
Preferred experience as a machine set‑up and operator in a production environment.
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs occasionally.
Physical Requirements Standing: Most tasks performed while standing with intermittent walking. Lifting: Infrequent lifting of items up to 80 lbs. Walking: Frequent short‑distance walking (less than 1/8 mile). Carrying: Occasional carrying of bulky items up to 50 lbs over short distances. Pushing/Pulling: Use of manual hand truck and carts to move skids or parts occasionally. Bending: Occasional bending. Reaching: Frequent reaching to inspect equipment and make adjustments. Handling: Frequent handling of parts 5‑10 lbs. Gripping: Frequent gripping of parts.
Work Schedule
1st Shift: 5:00 am–3:30 pm (10‑hour shift) Monday–Thursday (subject to change).
Occasional overtime required.
