Electrician – Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
Overview
Prismecs seeks a skilled Electrician – O&M to support the safe and reliable operation of a power generation facility. This role maintains all electrical systems, performs preventive and corrective maintenance, analyzes electrical faults, supports plant operations, ensures compliance with HSE requirements and provides technical expertise to the Plant Manager.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring equipment availability, electrical system integrity and adherence to OEM and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities Health, Safety, Environment & Compliance (HSE)
Actively participate in Prismecs’ safety and environmental programs.
Comply with all HSE regulations applicable to the power generation industry.
Follow all HSE directives, SOPs, electrical safety rules, and environmental requirements.
Promote safe work practices and immediately report any hazards, incidents, or equipment failures.
Electrical Operations & Maintenance
Execute preventive and corrective electrical maintenance according to OEM manuals and best industry practices.
Maintain and troubleshoot LV and MV electrical systems, protection relays, and control circuits.
Perform fault calculations, load‑flow studies, and protection trip analysis.
Operate SCADA, protection, metering, and control systems in accordance with site procedures.
Conduct routine inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
Document all maintenance activities in logbooks and digital systems (CMMS).
Support root‑cause analysis (RCA) investigations and provide accurate technical reporting.
Assist in annual reliability audits, relay testing, and equipment performance assessments.
Ensure all electrical work complies with OEM, project, and regulatory standards.
Operational Support
Coordinate with the Plant Manager and Operations team to schedule maintenance without impacting plant availability.
Support daily plant operations by providing electrical expertise during shift activities.
Provide accurate daily reporting, including inspections, anomalies, and corrective actions.
Assist with equipment interventions to minimize downtime.
Maintain and improve electrical procedures, checklists, and documentation.
Asset, Inventory & Tools Management
Recommend critical spare parts, consumables, and tools for electrical systems.
Support inventory audits and help ensure minimum stock levels are maintained.
Ensure proper use, storage, and care of electrical tools and equipment.
Review and support third‑party electrical contractors as required.
Training, Communication & Team Support
Mentor and support plant personnel on electrical procedures and equipment operation.
Work effectively within multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
Collaborate closely with the Plant Manager on planning, reporting, and issue resolution.
Maintain strong communication and provide timely updates on electrical system conditions.
Requirements Qualifications – Required
Technical degree or certification in Electrical Technology (or equivalent).
Minimum 5 years experience in electrical design, commissioning, or technical support.
Minimum 3 years experience in power‑generation plants.
Strong knowledge of CSA, NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
Hands‑on experience with LV/MV systems, protection relays, and electrical troubleshooting.
Experience operating SCADA, Protection, and Control Systems.
Knowledge of predictive and proactive maintenance techniques.
Experience using CMMS systems for work tracking and reporting.
RCA (Root Cause Analysis) experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Ability to work shifts and respond to emergencies.
English proficiency (reading, writing, speaking).
Qualifications – Preferred
Experience with TM2500 or Cummins QSK60 gas generator systems.
Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14000, and OHSAS 18001 standards.
Industrial communication/control system experience.
Experience supervising or coordinating with third‑party electrical contractors.
Experience training and mentoring technicians and operators.
Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
