The Equipment Preventative Maintenance Tech performs routine preventative maintenance in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications using hand tools, power tools, and precision‑measuring and testing instruments.
Responsibilities
Follows standard work and safety practices to perform routine maintenance activities
Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hand tools and power tools
Inspects parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools and power tools
Repairs or replaces defective parts using hand tools and power tools
Installs special functional and structural parts in devices using hand tools and power tools
Starts devices to test their performance
Lubricates and cleans parts
May initiate purchase orders for parts
May repair or replace electrical equipmentEnsures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after all processes
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred
3–5 years of experience in a fast‑paced lean manufacturing environment; more than 5 years preferred
Successful completion of a recognized mechanical apprenticeship program or equivalent technical training preferred
Availability to work any shift and overtime
Able to build cooperative relationships
Proven successful work experience with fork trucks and lawn maintenance equipment
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation(s)
Ability to meet minimum vision requirements for operation of a powered industrial vehicle with or without corrective lenses
