Responsibilities
Ability to produce quality parts that meet company standards.
Ability to machine piston rings to proper dimensions to tolerance in the ten-thousandths.
Operate machinery following traveler specifications.
Perform various machining operations such as cutting, sanding, drilling, grinding, and turning.
Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools such as manual micrometers and calipers.
Make minor adjustments to machine(s) to ensure quality standards are being met.
Notify subject matter expert, lead, supervisor or quality team member to conduct a first piece check.
Perform a first piece inspection, and complete in-process inspections as needed.
Complete a pre-start inspection of the machine to ensure machine meets production standards.
Adhere to all safety protocols and wear protective gear while on the shop floor.
Maintain accurate records of materials used and processes followed during production.
Accurate tracking of productivity using production software by clocking in and out of jobs.
Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with company policies.
Ensure daily cell production goals are met.
Ensuring the proper flow of rings and parts from operation to operation.
Flex to other open machines as needed to meet production demands.
Ability to follow and understand company policies and core values.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience And Skill Required
Ability to read, comprehend and follow basic written or oral instructions.
Knowledge of machining processes used in the manufacturing of piston rings preferred.
Knowledge of equipment utilized in the machining of piston rings preferred.
Knowledge of tooling utilized in the machining of piston rings preferred.
Knowledge of how to read a traveler.
Knowledge of how to use a manual micrometer, calipers, and hand tools (wrench, screwdriver, hammer, etc.).
Ability to pass a basic math test with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and use decimal points to ten-thousandths.
Able to effectively communicate and work in a team environment.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements
A 40+ hour work week, 10-hour shifts (Monday through Thursday).
Overtime may be required as needed to meet production demands, including working Fridays and/or Saturdays.
Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting.
Good manual hand dexterity.
Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds at a time, including anything over 50 pounds with assistance (team lift).
