What your day in this role might involve at OC‑Irving This position is part of the Irving Plant Maintenance Team and plays a role in improving overall reliability and performance of manufacturing and infrastructure equipment. This opportunity is critical to the performance and continued growth of our Roofing plant.
Responsibilities
Installs, modifies, or maintains plant equipment and assists in determining appropriate methods to accomplish these tasks.
Inspects plant equipment to identify potential problems prior to breakdown occurrences.
Alignment of belts, gears, or direct coupled shafts using proper tools to specified tolerances.
Answer line calls promptly and carry required tools to complete work safely and efficiently.
Complete scheduled jobs and work orders as assigned.
Assist during process upsets as needed.
Participate in safety and plant trainings.
Participate in Root Cause Analysis and TPM meetings.
What makes a successful OC‑Irving team member Must haves
High School Diploma or GED and be at least 18 years old.
Experience with thinking under pressure, making quick and strategic decisions.
Working independently as well as part of a team, with shift flexibility.
Show initiative, be a self‑starter, and able to train and coach others.
Communicate clearly and effectively in English.
Operate a computer, learn SAP and Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Knowledge of lubrication principles and bearing tolerances.
Ability to take and score at an acceptable level on a Maintenance Skill Test.
Knowledge of hydraulic systems, pumps, motor control, power circuitry, PLCs and welding.
Essential Physical Requirements
Stand for 10‑12 hours straight.
Ascend and descend stairs/ladders as needed.
Repetitive movements (hand, arm, leg; bending and twisting at the waist; bending at the knee and squatting; push and pull 40 pounds).
Exposure to temperature extremes; sound or noise levels that may be uncomfortable; outside weather as needed.
