Extinguisher Repairer

Summary Responsible for inspection, repair and maintenance of fire extinguisher equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Repair and test fire extinguishers in the repair shop using hand tools and hydrostatic test equipment.
Dismantle extinguishers, examine tubing, horns, head gaskets, cutter discs, and other parts for defects.
Replace worn or damaged parts using hand tools.
Clean extinguishers and recharge them with materials such as soda water, sulfuric acid, carbon tetrachloride, nitrogen, or patented solutions.
Test extinguishers for conformity with legal specifications using hydrostatic test equipment.
Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or GED; or 0-6 months related experience or training.
Physical Demands Employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
