We are currently seeking a Lead Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Gulfport, Mississippi. The skilled candidate will perform repairs and maintenance on diesel and gas automotive engines, heavy and light construction equipment, material‑handling machinery, and various lawn care equipment. This role is responsible for ensuring all vehicles and equipment remain in full compliance with OEM requirements and are properly equipped to perform their intended functions safely and efficiently. Must be able to read & understand operators, maintenance service, and parts manuals to determine repair needs and procedures to order correct repair parts. Must be able to read electrical, air, and hydraulic schematics & perform troubleshooting measures. Must be able to understand & utilize the latest electronic troubleshooting & testing equipment to diagnose & repair computer‑controlled systems on automotive & construction equipment. Must be able to perform troubleshooting & repairs to crawler/tracked equipment systems such as adjusting, repairing, and/or replacing track assemblies, adjusting, repairing, and/or replacing steering clutches and other components from track type equipment. Ability to complete forms and maintain manual and computerized records; enter data into terminal or keyboard device. Possess or able to get a Mobile Air Conditioning Systems MACS 609 certification card for the use of mobile Freon gases. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages. High school diploma or GED. Five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience in the automotive/construction industry. A specialized training course from an established and accredited institution in the Automotive Technology Field is highly recommended; additional experience in automotive and/or diesel mechanical repair work at the journeyman level is preferred. Valid Mississippi driver’s license. Class A or B CDL is highly desirable. Certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and/or other recognized certification in at least one of the following areas: brakes, steering and suspension, engine performance, air conditioning and heating, automotive electrical, and drive train systems is highly desirable. Anyone not having an ASE is highly encouraged to get one after being hired. Tools: Will be required to have his/her own personal tools in a lockable toolbox of sufficient size to securely store all within. NOTE: A complete list of recommended tools will be provided upon hire. Large pneumatic & electrical tools & equipment will be provided. Must be able to pass pre‑employment checks including drug & alcohol screenings, motor vehicle record check and criminal background check. Must submit to random drug & alcohol screenings.
