MACHINE BUILDER
- NOVI, MI Nature of Work:
This position encompasses all areas of machine builder technician that support Lear's strategy of world class, industry leading seat testing and calibration. Working on the shop floor, both here and Lear's assembly/manufacturing plants are required to be done in a most professional manner.
Examples of Work Performed
Assembles machines using visual representations from 2D drawings and 3D computer software.
Utilizes ability to work as a team with other mechanical, controls, Program Management and Engineering professionals.
Utilizes analytical thinking to understand the machine assembly and end product assembly processes.
Disassembles machines and reassembles during installation.
Works with customers for a successful runoff and installation.
Considers the finish requirements for a task.
Uses machines such as: lathes, mills, grinders, welders.
Possesses knowledge of job schedules and successfully meets deadlines.
Keeps work areas clean in appearance.
Performs other job duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong mechanical aptitude required.
Must have ability to read mechanical drawings in a 2D and 3D format.
Must be able to interpret and layout jobs based on drawings, pictures, and concept information.
Must possess the required tools.
Ability to lift 50 pounds properly.
Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
Travel to Lear sites in North America 25%.
Must possess quality communication and interpersonal skills.
Must possess sound problem-solving skills.
Must have demonstrated organizational skills.
Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
Must be able to work well with minimal supervision.
Must exercise team effort to achieve success.
Must demonstrate respect for peers, subordinates, supervisors and customers.
Must be able to understand and follow instructions.
Must fully understand and adhere to maintenance, safety, and quality processes and procedures.
Must be able to maintain a good attendance record.
Must be able to perform all functions of the job either with or without reasonable accommodation.
Basic welding and machining skills.
Knowledge of controls, pneumatic and hydraulic assembly preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
Must have at least 5 years of experience in the automation or maintenance industry.
Must have at least 2 years of experience in sub-assembly and full assembly of various automated machines and tooling processes.
