Additionally, the department manages many of the state's advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the state's population that have been traditionally underserved.**Description of Work**This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of potable water including hot and cold water, drainage, and wastewater fixtures, piping, and components. The position is also responsible for the routine maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of hot water heaters.**Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences**15% Certified by the City of Raleigh to test all domestic and irrigation backflow preventers within Raleigh and Wake County. This include, ongoing assistance in installation and/ or repair on domestic and irrigation backflow preventers according to all codes and applicable rules and regulation according to the City of Raleigh Cross Connection Program.35% Repairs or removes and installs new plumbing fixtures such as toilets, sinks, urinals, and water fountains. Installs and repairs potable and wastewater lines.25% Diagnoses malfunctioning hot water units involving automatic gas valves, thermo couples, electric eyes, igniters, and control circuits and makes repairs needed. Diagnoses malfunctioning burners and burner controls and makes needed repairs. Diagnoses and repairs hot water heaters ( steam and electric) problems including expansion tanks, traps, water level controls, and automatic electrical components and makes repairs as needed.15% Diagnoses pumping systems including sump, hot water, cold water, booster pumps and makes repairs as needed.5% Maintains, and repairs backflow systems. Maintains and repairs pool and fountain water systems.5% Complete service orders, work orders, material issue form.
