Industrial Painter/Maintenance Technician

We are searching for a skilled industrial painter to add to our staff. In this role, it will be your job to paint peanut processing equipment, doors, bollards, concrete, etc. You will need to assess the object that will be painted and determine the best way to complete the job. You should be capable of working with many different painting tools, including airbrushes, rollers, and thin and thick brushes. Additionally, you should be able to remove old layers of paint from different types of surfaces without damaging them.
We are looking for applicants who have previous experience in a similar role. We prefer to hire someone who has undergone formal training in industrial painting, but may hire the right candidate without this qualification.
Responsibilities
Work closely with Plant Management to adhere to strict schedules
Use a variety of tools and techniques to paint a variety of surfaces, including but not limited to steel peanut processing equipment, bollards, walls, doors, concrete, etc
Mix, match, apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, epoxy, urethane, and other finishes to surfaces.
Safely dispose of all waste that is generated during the painting process
Remove old layers of paint and/or rust from surfaces using a variety of techniques without destroying them
Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
Effectively chip and grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scrapers or power chippers, grinders, or arc cutting equipment
Use specialized knowledge to determine the best types of paints and painting techniques based on the specific job
Ensure that all safety standards are maintained throughout each job
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Analyzing painting specifications, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan painting needs
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in a similar role
Formal training in industrial painting is preferred
Specialized knowledge of industrial painting techniques and tools
Physical ability to remain standing for most of your shift
Ability to work well in both team settings and with minimal supervision
Must be able to wear a respirator mask for extended periods of time
Must be able to set up and climb ladders and stairs
Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 70 pounds
