PotlatchDeltic Corporation is seeking a Scaler/Guard for the Gwinn Lumber Mill. The successful candidate will ensure efficient and secure mill operations by monitoring wood quality, maintaining site organization, handling data and equipment, ensuring security, coordinating with operators, and delivering excellent customer service.
The hourly pay rate for this position is $25.95. Shift schedule: Rotating three 12‑hour shifts one week and four 12‑hour shifts the next week, with shifts rotating every two weeks between day (6:00 am–6:00 pm) and night (6:00 pm–6:00 am). Required to work every other weekend and various holidays. Shift differential $1.50 per hour for hours worked between 6:00 pm–5:00 am.
Production & Quality
Identify logs by species and quality per mill specifications.
Monitor wood quality entering and leaving the mill.
Operate scale for inbound/outbound trucks; input data using 3LOG/LIMGS computerized system.
Maintain wood yard and plant site per log yard plan for all seasons.
Maintain security at gate entrance and make property rounds.
Communicate and coordinate with kiln and boiler operators.
Interact positively with contractors, drivers, vendors, and public providing customer service.
Input accurate data using ISN system.
Load trucks with various products using a loader.
Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Safety & Environmental
Operate all equipment safely and maintain a clean work area.
Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Good attendance, work, and safety record.
Ability to work weekends.
Basic understanding of computers and Windows‑based programs.
Good communication skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team.
Possess or be able to obtain loader certification.
Possess or be able to obtain CPR & First Aid certification.
