Pay rate:
$25–$30/hr
Work schedule:
Third shift – Saturday–Wednesday, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM (occasional overtime)
Duration:
Possible 6–12 month assignment
Overview The Boiler Watch Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining high-pressure boilers, compressors, and plant fire systems while supporting facility maintenance and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives. This role requires independent work during third shift and hands‑on involvement in mechanical, safety, and facility operations.
Essential Functions
Operate and monitor high-pressure boilers, pumps, air handlers, cooling towers, and related equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair plumbing issues, adjust cooling tower systems, and regulate system flows.
Ensure safe mechanical operation of boiler-related equipment throughout the facility.
Conduct security and maintenance rounds and provide backup coverage during site emergencies.
Perform snow removal duties using heavy equipment such as loaders, skid‑steers, and snowplows, as well as manual salting and sanding.
Support EHS compliance by performing audits, collecting data, and completing monthly inspections of safety equipment including fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, fall protection gear, lifts, PPE, and GFI devices.
Qualifications Required
Associate degree or equivalent experience in mechanical or chemical engineering, environmental technology, or related field; military experience accepted.
Strong knowledge of boiler systems, compressors, and fire safety systems.
Hands‑on experience in at least two of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or mechanical maintenance.
Ability to handle hazardous waste and respond to related emergencies.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Outlook and Teams.
Preferred
Minimum 2 years of Environmental Health & Safety experience.
Minimum 2 years of boiler operation experience.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs., and up to 70 lbs. with assistance.
Frequent use of power tools.
Extended periods of standing and walking.
