Salary Range $39,285.00 - $42,093.00 annually

Job Duties A Tire Maintenance Worker I changes and repairs tires on a variety of vehicles. No supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive close supervision from a technical superior. Employees work shift work, weekend work and are subject to callback. Work is performed in a tire shop where dirty, greasy shop conditions and fumes are regularly encountered. Work requires strenuous physical exertion.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: One year of experience in changing and repairing automobile, truck or heavy equipment tires.

Licenses: Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management.

Provisional driver’s license not acceptable. Must upload a copy of valid driver’s license with application.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the tools used to change and repair tires.

Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.

Ability to change and repair tires on a variety of vehicles including cars, trucks or heavy equipment.

Ability to follow instructions.

Additional Information

Background Check: Eligible candidates for trust positions required to complete authorization for a criminal background check and/or fingerprint.

Probation: All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.

Eligibility: Qualified candidates considered for vacancies for at least six months. Decision of Director of HR final.

Education Accreditation: Education must be from accredited institution. Out-of-US credentials evaluated for US equivalency via www.naces.org.

Selection Process: All candidates meeting minimum qualifications placed on eligible list. Training and experience evaluated. Provide complete and accurate information.

Examination Process: Applicants must provide sufficient information on application. Successful placed on employment-certified eligible list for at least six months. Rating includes education, training, experience. Supplemental questions may be required.
