Chester, VA

area. This is a night shift position working Sunday - Thursday, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM. The Lead Mechanic leads and directs Fuel & Lube Techs along with other onsite mechanics. Travel to various jobsite locations may be required. Responsibilities

Be knowledgeable of the hazards and safety requirements of the job, and utilize required personal protective equipment (welder’s shield, etc.). Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Examine critical parts and operating components of heavy equipment for possible wear and tear, defects, or other damage. Perform routine maintenance checks on company owned and/or leased vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and longevity of the vehicle/equipment. Repair, replace, clean, and lubricate vehicle/equipment parts as necessary. Examine, and repair, if necessary, hydraulic components for fluid leaks, ruptured hoses, or worn gaskets. Use hand-held computers or other diagnostic devices to diagnose components in need of adjustment or repair. Use jacks, cranes, and various hand-held tools to dismantle and reassemble parts. May be required to replace engines, repair hydraulic fluid pumps, correct electrical problems. Test devices to evaluate performance. Pressure washing. Operate various types of light and heavy equipment and over-the-road trucks for maneuvering into service and repair locations. Request spare parts as needed. Travel to job sites to make repairs to heavy equipment as necessary. Maintain a high level of workplace housekeeping and customer satisfaction. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of diesel engine repair. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to locate, read, understand and follow instructions outlined in SDS material safety data sheets. Ability to write simple correspondence and communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats. Ability to prioritize tasks and apply common sense to carry out instructions. Ability to work overtime as required; cooperative, punctual, and detail oriented. Must be able to utilize electronic devices such as a smartphone to send/receive email and communicate from job site locations to the office. Must be able to work safely and follow company policies, and regulatory agency requirements (DOT, OSHA, MSHA). Aerial Lift Operator Training Certification preferred. Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is the lead mechanic and is responsible for leading and directing Fuel & Lube Techs along with other onsite mechanics. Educational And Experience Requirements

High School diploma or GED. Minimum one-year certification from college or technical school in fleet repairs or vehicle maintenance. Minimum six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A.S.E. Certification preferred. Work Environment

Flexible hours; may include some night work depending on project needs. Exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, and various environmental conditions; noise typically loud. Works inside and outside. License And Certifications

Must have and maintain a valid state-issued Driver’s License with driving record meeting Saiia’s risk management guidelines. Travel
