Amcor Rigid Packaging
Purpose
As a Machine Operator, you will remove product from the production line, inspect it to the customer's specifications and pack into designated cartons.
Responsibilities
Adheres to safety policies and procedures in compliance with company guidelines including wearing mandatory PPE in production areas.
Review production orders and report discrepancies of product specifications to the line foreman.
Remove finished product from winders and place it on scales to verify weight; band cartons/product to skid for shipment.
Place identification labels on product or skids, keep records or generate tally sheets as required, and comply with established packing plans and procedures.
Ensure that quality is in accordance with work order specifications.
Responsible for personal and overall safety, quality of packaging, careful damage‑free handling, and housekeeping.
Responsible for adhering to and executing the applicable Environmental Health & Safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for all employees according to Amcor, local, state, and federal requirements‑regulations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Previous manufacturing experience is a plus.
Able to work in a production environment, recognizing various sounds and alarms.
Must be able to monitor quality of machine output.
Ability to communicate with co‑workers on issues and activities.
Capable of functional math: adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and accurately reading a tape measure.
Capable of physical mobility. Over a 12‑hour shift, the employee pulls and drags sheets of plastic, rearranges and organizes product, grasps and pulls product during production process, climbs/descent stairs into tower areas (50‑65 feet in the air) and pushes a broom to clean production floor.

Education High school diploma, equivalent, or previous manufacturing experience.

Mathematical Skills Ability to do functional math; i.e., adding, subtracting, multiplying and division. Accurately read provided measuring devices.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, keep up with moderate to high‑speed production machines and winders, use hands, arms and fingers to handle, grasp, hold, grip and squeeze, operate roll‑handling equipment, lift up to an average of 30 lbs over a twelve (12) hour shift, pull and drag sheets of plastic, climb/descend stairs into tower areas 50 to 65 feet in the air, push a broom to clean production floor, occasionally lift up to 65 lbs, stand approximately 10 hours, frequently walk in the production area to locate materials and check production, stretch and reach to reprocess discarded plastic, climb approximately 1 foot to a seated forklift and drive/operate the forklift or platform of machinery, and operate roll carts and lifting equipment.

Employees are exposed to moving mechanical parts, moderate to very loud noise levels, and temperature variances (extreme heat in spring and summer, cold temperatures in winter).
