Pipe Welder (Manufacturing)

Job Overview Must be able to pass Client welding certification for carbon, stainless, TIG, Stick – 2 x .625 (super coupon) GTAW / SMAW. Previous pipe welding certification, 2 years minimum experience. Experience in an industrial chemical environment strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
Set and adjust welding machine according to materials used.
Read blueprints, PIDs or instructions from supervisors.
Check work along the way to ensure it is up to code and specifications.
Perform basic rigging practices and flagging practices based on OSHA 1926.1428.
Safely use hand and power tools and follow Company and site safety policies.
Lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and building and bridge parts.
Select equipment and perform layout, assembly and welding applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
Bolt, clamp, and tack‑weld parts to secure in position for welding.
May assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools.
Monitor and maintain building systems as assigned.
Execute various minor construction projects as required.
Maintain equipment and clean around workstations.
Interface with supervisor and/or manager to give progress updates as required.
Work outdoors in the elements, in tight spaces, and climb up and down safely in proximity of manufacturing and process equipment.
Perform work above 4 feet with fall protection where required.
Additional Functions
Willingness and ability to work various shifts and overtime on short notice to meet business needs.
Physical Profile Requirements The job requires occasionally remaining on one's feet in an upright position without moving for long periods of time, occasionally moving about on foot for long periods of time, remaining in a seated position for long periods of time, and/or climbing stairs, step‑ladders, extension ladders and scaffolding ladders. The job also requires the ability to raise or lower an object of approximately 5‑50 pounds from one level to another, the ability to transport an object of up to 50 pounds a distance of up to 10 yards. The job requires operating a standard 1/2 ton pick‑up for occasional delivery and pick‑up of materials and personnel and holding a valid, unrestricted motor vehicle operator's license issued by the state of residence, and the manual dexterity necessary to operate a standard desktop computer keyboard.
