Job Summary The Maintenance Technician / Electrical Mechanic is the main responder to emergency situations, performing preventive and corrective maintenance on the electrical and mechanical components of the baggage handling system during dwell periods and non‑operational hours.
Rate of Pay Starting at $28/hr
Responsibilities
Maintain superior customer service and safe working practice at all times.
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery and electrical equipment such as motors, electrical circuits, SICK ATR systems, baggage handling equipment and conveyor systems in accordance with diagrams and manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
Communicate with parties on work performed and present status of specialty systems.
Analyze root causes of electrical failures and propose remedies and resolutions, as well as continuous monitoring for improvement.
Interpret schematics and engineering drawings in reference to system location and operation.
React to call outs from Control Room Operator or manager executing service calls (CM, PM, EM).
Perform preventive maintenance: inspection, adjustment, cleaning, replacement, and prepare follow‑up CM work orders if needed.
Minimum Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High‑school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to work flexible schedule for a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Background check and drug screen required.
Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport ID Badge.
Electrical/Mechanical training and experience in an industrial environment or minimum 3 years’ experience as maintenance mechanic.
Preferred Skills
Strong electrical troubleshooting, conveyor and controls systems.
Experience with Siemens, Allen Bradley PLC systems.
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems up to 480 V (motors, DC clutches, switches, panels, controls).
Experience working on jet bridges.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Work in baggage handling areas, repair stations, or airfields, meeting strict deadlines to maintain flight schedules.
Exposure to mechanical parts, vibration, and baggage handling system.
Exposure to noise from aircraft engines and equipment.
Frequent bending, leaning, reaching ladders and scaffolding.
Regular speaking and hearing required.
Reaching with hands and arms frequently.
Activities include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing.
Frequent lifting or moving items over 50 lbs with teammates.
Lifting parts and tools for long periods and handling equipment such as transportation systems.
