POSITION OVERVIEW As a Middle School Teacher, you'll design and deliver engaging, rigorous curriculum while fostering the social‑emotional growth crucial during these pivotal years. You'll lead classroom instruction, mentor students and colleagues, and help shape the future of our scholars, school, and education program.
WHAT YOU'LL DO Lead Innovative Instruction
Design and implement project‑based learning experiences using EL Education curriculum
Integrate character development (CRISP values) throughout academic content
Utilize extended school day (8:00 am‑4:30 pm) and year‑round calendar for deeper learning
Assess and adapt instruction to meet diverse learners' needs
Prepare students for high school success and college/career readiness
Mentor and Inspire
Guide middle schoolers through critical developmental transitions
Create classroom cultures that balance academic rigor with social‑emotional support
Lead student‑driven learning initiatives and encourage intellectual risk‑taking
Collaborate with support staff to address individual student needs
Model lifelong learning and professional excellence
Drive School Excellence
Participate in curriculum development and school improvement initiatives
Engage in collaborative professional learning communities
Contribute to our research partnerships with UW‑Madison
Support school‑wide programs including athletics and extended learning academies
Build strong partnerships with families and community
WHAT YOU BRING Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; WI teaching license preferred or commitment to obtain
Experience working with middle school students (grades 6‑8)
Deep content knowledge in core academic areas
Understanding of adolescent development and middle school best practices
Commitment to project‑based, student‑centered learning approaches
Leadership Qualities
Innovative mindset with ability to think creatively about curriculum and instruction
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Cultural competency and commitment to equity
Resilience and adaptability in dynamic educational environment
Passion for continuous improvement and professional growth
Preferred Qualifications
Teachers with knowledge and skills in English/Language Arts, Math, and STEM
