Mechanical Technician III
Reporting Structure:
Manufacturing Manager Department:
Manufacturing Shift : 6am-3:30pm
Your Impact This senior position is responsible for leading the assembly of custom automated equipment. Very limited instructions are given to perform the function of the job. As a Mechanical Technician III, you will use your extensive experience and judgment to plan, build, install, and troubleshoot mechanical assemblies, mechanical components, hardware, and equipment.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead the assembly of manufactured and purchased components to meet specifications as indicated by assembly drawings (assemblies may include complex arrangements requiring fitting and adjustment to close tolerances)
Use design packages and customer specifications to assemble systems and sub-assemblies
Establish floor plan layout
Perform machine build integration support and installation tasks
Follow established integration procedures for setup and alignment of systems and sub-assemblies; repair or replace defective components as needed
Adhere to build schedules and provide input for future projects
Assist in maintaining project status updates
Assign daily tasks to assigned technicians
Collaborate with project teams (including managers, customers, designers, and programmers) to solve problems and deliver complete, functional systems
Mentor Mechanical Technicians and train new hires on efficient, accurate assembly of automated equipment
Verify components are correct for the build
Assist in building electro-mechanical devices
Ensure correct handling of materials used in the build
Report workmanship or design issues to the Manufacturing Manager
Participate in equipment tear-down and shipping
Communicate constructive ideas to maintain high manufacturing standards and use team knowledge for efficient problem-solving
Ensure print updates are completed and rework is properly recorded
Perform installation of custom assemblies on customer sites (may require scheduled or unscheduled evening/weekend work)

Demonstrated knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and machine tools (Knee Mill, Surface Grinder, Lathe)
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude and consistent contribution
High mechanical aptitude and familiarity with measurement tools
Level of Autonomy and Authority
Take direction from the Manufacturing Manager and Lead Machine Builder
Key Requirements
Certificate as a Machine Builder, Machinist, Maintenance Technician, or equivalent work experience
4 years' experience building custom automated machines
4 years' experience reading and interpreting drawings and solid models
1 year experience in a lead role
Demonstrated knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and machine tools (Knee Mill, Surface Grinder, Lathe)
3 years' experience using computers and related software
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and consistent contribution
Ability to travel internationally approximately 10% of the time
Ability to cross international borders (passport required)
