What You’ll Be Doing
Assemble manufactured and purchased components to meet the specifications as indicated by assembly drawings. Assemblies may include complex arrangements and may require fitting and adjustment to meet close tolerances.
Using the design package and customer specifications for reference; plan and coordinate work required to assemble systems and sub-assemblies.
Review jobs before assembly starts and interact with engineering to obtain design clarification as required.
Assist and direct teams of technicians assigned to the build.
Ensure that all print updates are being completed and that rework is properly recorded.
Using established procedures for “Integration” perform setup and alignment of the system and sub-assemblies. Repair and/or replace defective components of the system as required.
Responsible for resolving issues through technical problem solving and troubleshooting.
Participate in regular project status updates with project team and customers.
Mentor technicians (including feedback on skills and behavior) and provide guidance on safe work practices.
Install custom assemblies on customer floor; may be required for scheduled or unscheduled onsite customer service on evenings or weekends.
Provide customer training when required.

Strong math and communication skills.
High mechanical aptitude and familiarity with measurement tools.
Ability to read blueprints.
Operate hand tools and work independently or with others; take direction and receive constructive criticism; direct teams.
Troubleshoot mechanical, PLC, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
Level of Autonomy and Authority
Take direction from the Manufacturing Manager.
Work independently on broad assignments, receiving general instructions concerning objectives, priorities, and other operational relationships.
Assist and direct teams of Technicians and others as required.
Key Requirements
A Certificate as a Machine Builder, Machinist, Maintenance Technician, or 10 years of equivalent work experience.
5 years’ experience in building custom automated machines.
5 years’ experience reading and interpreting drawings and solid models.
2 years’ experience in a lead role.
Demonstrated knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and machine tools (Knee Mill, Surface Grinder, Lathe).
3 years’ experience using computers and computer software.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must be capable of working in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude and consistent contribution to projects.
Working conditions
Manufacturing environment: May be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.
Equipment/machinery used
Machining and fabrication equipment (Knee Mill, Surface Grinder, Lathe, Drill Press, Welder), hand tools, power tools, laser alignment tools, computer, calculator, measurement tools, multi-meter, crane, fork truck, pallet-jack.
Physical requirements
Sitting, standing, kneeling, laying, stooping, crawling, reaching, pulling, lifting up to 50lbs regularly and 75lbs occasionally, typing, visual acuity, occasional travel (up to 25%) for extended periods including overnight and weekends.
