Come grow with us! We are adding Mechanical/Electrical Assemblers (Electro-Mechanical Assembler) to our Broadwind Industrial Solutions team in Sanford, NC. The Electro-Mechanical Assembler builds complex devices by integrating mechanical parts with electrical components, reading blueprints/schematics, using hand/power tools, performing wiring, testing connections, and ensuring quality for machinery requiring problem solving and attention to detail.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform bench‑type processes to complete mechanical and electrical assemblies and sub‑assemblies, using hand tools, and electronic and pneumatic tooling.
Assemble sub‑assemblies and finished products following detailed instructions (drawings, schematics, work orders).
Mount, connect, and wire electrical components, sensors, and controls.
Install mechanical parts, ensuring precise alignment and fit.
Use hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches) and power tools, potentially soldering equipment.
Conduct basic testing and quality checks on assembled units.
Troubleshoot minor issues and perform adjustments.
Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as tape measure and calipers.
Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
Ability to safely operate overhead crane and forklift equipment.
Keep a clean and orderly work area. Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
All other duties as assigned.
Academic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
2+ years experience with mechanical / electrical assemblies.
Experience with assembly and measuring tools, interpret visual aids.
Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Ability
Ability to read blueprints.
Strong attention to detail.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn and navigate ERP systems and efficiently enter information in the system.
Good command of the English language both written and verbal.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing tasks and demands.
Ability to read, write and follow established methods and procedures.
Ability to perform simple shop math.
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Safety glasses, steel‑toed shoes).
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
Perform work in a non‑climate‑controlled shop environment.
Ability to perform simple shop math.
