Machine Operator Tapering - 1st Shift

Responsibilities
Operate a hand‑held grinder to finish small part components.
Load machine programs specific to product orders.
Process material in accordance with shop drawings using designated machines.
Troubleshoot operating errors and determine possible resolutions.
Maintain material traceability.
Seek opportunities for improvements within the manufacturing department.
Perform tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime.
Determine machine maintenance needs and perform light maintenance as required.
Manage time to efficiently produce quality products within designated work hours.
Communicate information and provide feedback in person with co‑workers, Shift Lead, Shift Supervisor or Production/Operations Manager.
Perform lean, 5S, and/or general housekeeping.
Other duties as required and/or assigned.

The employee is responsible for their own work.
Must be able to work with other employees to complete job duties.
Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty.
Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery for specific parts.
Maintain a safe and productive work environment, producing a quality product shipped complete and on time.
Directly impact safety, quality, productivity, TME (total manufacturing expenses), and customer satisfaction.
This position reports to the Production Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Acceptable attendance and prior employment record.
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Strong hands‑on working knowledge of operating machines.
Ability to read and understand blueprints/shop drawings.
Attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions.
Read a tape measure to within 1/32”.
Physically lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
Strong interpersonal skills and professional communication with a variety of people.
High awareness for safety at all times.
Passion, integrity, and drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Five (5) or more years of experience operating machines in a heavy, fast‑paced manufacturing environment (e.g., drill, lathe press, saw, stretcher, tapering).
Strong mechanical knowledge.
Positive communication and interaction with coworkers.
