Job Summary The Letter Bender is responsible for the precise bending and shaping of metal letters used in signage, displays, and various decorative applications. This role involves working with various types of metal, utilizing specialized tools and machinery to create high-quality, custom-designed letters. Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and an understanding of metalworking techniques are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication and Bending:
Use hand tools, power tools, and machinery to bend and shape metal letters according to specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to determine the dimensions and configurations of letters.
Machinery Operation (occasionally):
Operate bending machines, presses, shears, and other metalworking equipment.
Adjust machine settings to achieve precise bends and shapes.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Quality Control:
Inspect finished letters for accuracy, alignment, and quality.
Make necessary adjustments and corrections to meet quality standards.
Ensure all work meets company standards and customer specifications.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Comply with all relevant industry regulations and company policies.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in metalworking, fabrication, or a related field is preferred.
Familiarity with sign-making or related industries is a plus.
Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and metalworking machinery.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Basic math skills for measuring and calculating dimensions.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
Stamina to stand, bend, and work for extended periods.
Good vision and hearing to ensure accurate work and safety.
Work Environment
The work is typically performed in a workshop or fabrication facility.
Exposure to noise, dust, and metal fumes is common.
Safety gear such as gloves, goggles, and ear protection is required.
