WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE This job contributes to Evolution Fresh success by operating packaging machinery in conformance with specifications. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Models and acts in accordance with Evolution Fresh guiding principles.
JOB DUTIES:
Coaches and mentors machine operators to ensure their development and understanding of current and new technology
Serves as a training mentor and assesses training needs of machine operators providing feedback to the supervisor
Analyzes system tracking tools to identify process opportunities. Compiles data and identifies trends to support maintenance in continuous improvement efforts
Reviews daily staffing schedule and provides feedback to supervisor
Ensures that package appearance, labeling, seals, case, and pallet configurations comply with product specifications and quality standards
Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment
Operates packaging equipment with safety guards and switches in place and follows all safety procedures and regulations
Oversees team execution of master sanitation schedule
Serves as subject matter expert for all roasting plant production packaging equipment
Supports cost reduction goals by identifying and acting upon potential roadblocks and process improvements to reduce downtime, scrap and product not meeting quality specifications
Uses vendor resources for troubleshooting and learning opportunities
Demonstrates and understands safety as a core value and follows the key essentials to safety as set forth by our safety resolution; reinforces and coaches others to do the same
Understands and follows established safety guidelines, consistently complies with all safety procedures (e.g. PPE, Lock Out Tag Out)
Supports food safety, legality, and quality programs
Maintains product quality through adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications and quality procedures. Monitors and documents quality measures using analytical tools
Performs other duties as needed in support of business objectives and Evolution Fresh Mission & Values
Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School/GED or one to two years’ experience in related field or combination of both education and experience
Operating manual and automated packaging equipment (3 years)
Performing quality tests using analytical tools (2 years)
Regulated food manufacturing environment (2 years)
Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot machine failures and make minor adjustments (2 years)
ADDITIONAL REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Ability to understand written policies and guidelines, specifications, and safety standards
Ability to work with a diverse team environment
Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality and sanitation standards, policies, and procedures
Ability to repair significant mechanical issues on machines and systems
Experience conducting quality tests and analyzing data
Ability to train others and measure effectiveness
Basic math skills
Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Mechanical knowledge of automated machines and tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Internet environments
Ability to compile and interpret data and identify trends
Ability to describe and analyze equipment failures, quality concerns and scrap reduction
Ability to work variable shifts to support business needs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (FDA Code of Federal Regulations) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Experience with the GFSI certification schemes (i.e. BRC and/or SQF).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
O = Occasional (up to 25% of time)
F = Frequent (26%-74% of time)
C = Constant (75% or more of time)
