Engineering Technician II – Terracon Join Terracon’s multidisciplinary consulting firm as an Engineering Technician II and help solve engineering and technical challenges across more than 180 locations nationwide.

Responsibilities

Perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel) as directed by training and specified procedures.

Transport material samples with identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.

Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager.

Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas and maintain assigned equipment and related calibration.

Assist higher level technicians on complex tasks and drive a vehicle such as a Ford F-150 or equivalent.

Communicate findings and results clearly to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the Project Manager.

Follow strict safety standards, perform pre-task planning prior to executing work, and report any safety issues or concerns to management.

Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience or equivalent training.

Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certifications

NICET Level II certification in Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils).

NICET Level II certification in Geotechnical (Construction, Laboratory, Exploration, Generalist).

ICC certification in Reinforced Concrete, Spray‑applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Prestressed/Post‑Tensioned Concrete, Structural Steel – Bolting, Structural Steel – Welding.

AWS Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI).

ASNT Level II certification in Visual Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Dye Penetrant Testing, Radiographic Testing, Ultrasonic Testing.

Other national, regional, state, and local materials related certifications requiring experience and written examination will also be considered if deemed appropriate by the Terracon Department Manager.

Required Certifications

ACI certification in one or more of the following areas: Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, Concrete Strength Testing Technician.

Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.

Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
