Job Description
A Tile Setter installs tiles and stone on various surfaces, including floors, walls, and ceilings, using specialized tools and techniques to ensure a durable and aesthetically pleasing finish.
Responsibilities
Install tiles and stone (ceramic, porcelain, marble, granite, etc.) on floors, walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and smoothing them to ensure proper tile adhesion.
Accurately measure and cut tiles to fit specific spaces, including around obstacles and into odd shapes.
Apply mortar, mastic, or other adhesives to the surface and tiles to ensure a secure bond.
Position and press tiles into place, ensuring proper alignment, spacing, and even grout lines.
Apply grout to fill the spaces between tiles and seal the grout to prevent staining and water damage.
Clean the tiled surfaces and ensure a professional, finished look.
Identify and address any issues or damage to tiles or grout.
Read and interpret blueprints to determine material requirements and installation procedures.
Handle and store a variety of tile and stone materials, as well as tools and equipment.
Skills and Qualifications
Physical stamina: ability to lift heavy materials, kneel for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
Attention to detail: precision and accuracy for a professional finish.
Problem‑solving skills: adapt to different situations and find solutions to unexpected challenges.
Basic math skills: ability to measure, calculate, and estimate materials.
Knowledge of materials: familiarity with different types of tiles, stone, adhesives, and grout.
Tool proficiency: experience using tile‑setting tools such as wet saws, tile scribes, trowels, and grout floats.
Safety awareness: knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to work safely on construction sites.
Requirements

At least 18 years of age
Valid driver’s license
Reliable transportation
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
