About the Role The Water Meter Installer reports to the Smart Meter Deployment Operations Manager and is responsible for water meter maintenance and measurement, including working in outdoor environmental conditions, time management, and flexibility.
Great Pay & Bonus Potential Earn $23.00 per hour with the chance to boost your pay through the Bermex Productivity Incentive Plan (BPIP). You receive extra pay for production over set goals.
Responsibilities
Perform visual inspections of water service for leaks, identify hazards, and report accordingly.
Change out water meters of varying sizes and brands, as well as meter registers for AMI/AMR upgrade.
Read water meters and enter data into a handheld computer.
Assist on additional projects as needed.
Refer consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities.
Provide general information about meter services to customers.
Use telephone, tablet, and Computer to communicate.
Complete other duties as assigned.
About You Must Haves
Minimum 18 years of age.
No prior experience required; employees will be trained.
Valid driver’s license.
Nice to Have
High school diploma or GED.
One year or more experience in water meter and register exchange; continuous work with same employer or at least 6 months experience.
Your Skills
Ability to multi‑task and work independently and as part of a team.
Exceptional daily flexibility, including nights and weekends.
Adequate time‑management to complete daily meter reads efficiently.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Professional interaction with unhappy customers.
Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving.
Capability to walk long distances and handle weather conditions.
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
High concentration on safety, quality, and operational procedures.
Basic knowledge of GIS systems and principles.
Drug/Alcohol Testing
Drug/alcohol testing required (per Federal DOT and non‑regulatory requirements).
