About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic to support maintenance operations for a busy flight training organization based in the Tucson metro. The role focuses on maintaining a fleet of general aviation training aircraft—handling scheduled checks, line maintenance, and fast-response unscheduled work. Candidates must be detail-driven, safety-first, and comfortable working in a high-tempo training environment. We have four technician levels with a structured pay scale from $25 up to $48 per hour depending on experience, certification, and demonstrated capability.
What You’ll Do
Perform maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on flight school aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and company maintenance procedures.
Interpret and apply technical documentation including maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, IPCs, SBs, and ADs.
Ensure all work is documented accurately and aircraft are returned to service in an airworthy condition.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe hangar/workshop.
Communicate clearly with instructors, scheduling, and operations personnel about aircraft status and maintenance timelines.
Assist in workflow management by adjusting priorities based on operational needs.
Provide flexible coverage across day and night shifts to support flight operations.
Requirements
Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate — Required.
Ability to obtain Inspection Authorization (IA) within 3 months of hire.
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Experience
Minimum 3 years of general aviation (GA) experience as a certificated A&P.
Experience with Piper aircraft preferred.
G1000 experience is a plus.
Skills & Abilities
Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills; able to make airworthiness determinations independently.
Solid understanding of 14 CFR Parts 43 and 91.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to learn Talon RMS or similar maintenance tracking systems.
High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-changing training environment.
Physical & Safety Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
Work may require standing, bending, or stooping for extended periods.
Exposure to typical aviation environments including fuel, solvents, aircraft noise, outdoor conditions, and hangar operations.
Use of shop tools, equipment, vehicles (van, truck, cart), and aircraft as required.
Compensation : $25–$48 per hour (based on 4 levels of experience)
