Outboard Engine Mechanic (PRPD-2025-24375)
Bowhead seeks an experienced Outboard Engine Mechanic to join our team in Puerto Rico for maintenance of vessels and general maritime support in Ponce and San Juan.
Responsibilities
Installing, rigging/de-rigging, diagnosing and conducting repairs on outboard engines, boats and trailers.
Installing or modifying hull, mechanical, and electrical (HM&E) systems and other equipment on boats.
Conducting fiberglass and aluminum repairs; aluminum hull weld repairs in accordance with ANSI/AWS D3.7 is desirable.
Operating in tight and cramped spaces on small boats; lifting up to 75 lbs as needed.
Qualifications
Knowledge of and experience with repairing, maintaining and conducting complete maintenance and overhauls of boats.
Experience with fiberglass and aluminum hull boats as well as outboard propulsion systems.
Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a US passport.
Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Strong communication skills with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
Certification from Mercury Marine required.
Ability to pass a background check; US citizenship required.
Clearance Requirements There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.
