Primary Function Tend to fabricating machines such as band saws, shears, rolls, brakes, lasers, water jet, plasma, and forming machines used to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Be able to assist, or learn to, operate various manual and CNC machines in the Material Prep Department, such as: Band Saws, Press Brake, Plate Rolls, Water Jet, Plasma Table, and Laser.
Be able to assist, or learn to, operate assorted hand tools, including grinders, bevellers, and precision measuring tools.
Have a working knowledge of drawings, sketches, specifications, and be able to produce work that meets those specifications.
Must be able to become forklift certified, understand and use appropriate rigging techniques, and be trained in bridge crane operation.
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds using correct lifting techniques and possess good manual dexterity, vision, and hearing.
Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
Position work piece against stops or align layout marks with die or blade.
Push buttons or depress pedals to activate machine.
Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
Measure work piece dimensions to determine machine accuracy.
Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece.
Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces.
Other duties may be assigned.
Machine Operator I
Be able to assist, or learn to, operate assorted hand tools, including grinders, bevellers, and precision measuring tools.
Have a working knowledge of drawings, sketches, specifications, and be able to produce work that meets those specifications.
Must also be forklift certified, understand rigging techniques, and trained in bridge crane operation.
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have good manual dexterity, vision, and hearing.
Machine Operator II
Assist or operate various CNC machines in the Material Prep Department, such as Band Saws, Press Brake, Plate Rolls, Water Jet, Plasma Table, and Laser.
Operate assorted hand tools, including grinders, bevellers, and precision measuring tools.
Have a working knowledge of drawings, sketches, specifications, and other means to produce quality parts.
Work in a high‑degree safety team‑player atmosphere with little supervision.
Operate forklifts, lift up to 50 pounds, use correct lifting techniques, and maintain good manual dexterity, vision, and hearing.
Promote and actively embrace professionalism, quality, commitment, integrity, ingenuity, teamwork, community, and environmental stewardship, and enforce safety at all times.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds; regularly lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift above 50 pounds.
Vision requirements: strong visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception.
Long hours (10+), overtime, travel possible.
Work Environment
Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, loud noises, tripping hazards, sparks, welding arc, flame high places, fumes, airborne particles, industrial chemicals, inclement weather, electrical shock, vibration.
Must maintain awareness and wear necessary PPE; noise level usually loud.
