Experimental Process Machinist - MTC 2nd Shift
Shift: 2nd Shift | Level: Individual Contributor | Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
Set up and operate all types of digitally driven manufacturing equipment, including CNC multi‑axis / multi‑function machines, gear cutting, gear grinding, surface grinding, and various integrated systems.
Operate internal, centerless, surface, external, thread, and universal grinders for development and tool work. Grind steps, tapers, recesses, shoulders, angles, contours, and threads; set up truing devices on thread grinding for various types and forms of threads.
Maintain extremely close tolerances on all setups and operations.
Advise and assist Engineers in developing new processes to manufacture metallic and/or composite dynamic components such as transmission and gearbox cases, covers, housings, power & accessory gears (spiral bevel, helical, hypoid) and metallic rotor and airframe components.
Perform all machine set‑up and operation steps necessary to complete assigned jobs.
Work from drawings, 3‑D models, engineering orders, sketches, or verbal instructions.
Use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments.
Ensure safe operating conditions and normal housekeeping of assigned process areas.
All work is for experimental purposes only.
Tools & Equipment
Dynamic component manufacturing equipment: load/unload equipment, overhead crane, tool set equipment, machinist hand tools, precision measuring instruments, manual and dynamic fixtures.
Experience & Other Requirements
Five (5) years of CNC experience within the last seven (7) years operating precision multi‑axis (e.g., 4‑axis or more) numerically controlled equipment with integrated tool‑management systems.
Experience gained at Bell counts toward the required experience and other requirements for job bidding purposes.
Upgraded employees until June 30, 2025 will have a sixty‑day (60‑day) trial period in the new job classification during which they must demonstrate their ability to meet the job requirements.
Ability to use information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
For non‑U.S. persons selected, eligibility requirements for access to export‑restricted information (ITAR/EAR) must be met.
