Summary The Director of Nursing (DON) provides leadership and oversight of nursing services within a Skilled Nursing/Long Term Care facility. This role ensures high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and effective clinical operations.
Responsibilities Lead and manage all nursing operations within the facility Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and facility policies Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate nursing staff Develop and manage the nursing department budget Oversee care planning, resident assessments, and ongoing evaluations Lead survey preparedness and participate in state/federal surveys; develop and implement Plans of Correction (POC) Oversee EMR documentation, auditing, and staff training Promote resident rights, safety, and quality of care Communicate effectively with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams Support QA/QI initiatives and antibiotic stewardship programs
Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Bachelor’s degree required Active, unencumbered RN license in the state of practice Minimum of 5 years of RN experience Prior Director of Nursing experience in Long Term Care required Current BLS/CPR certification Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Compensation Hourly Range (Salaried/Exempt):
$38.00 – $63.00/hr Competitive compensation with leadership-level responsibility
