Pride Health is hiring a Histology Technician (Histology Tech)
to support a high-volume hospital laboratory in
Minneapolis, MN 55407 . This is an
18-week travel contract
with a
night shift schedule , ideal for an experienced histology professional with strong embedding and microtomy skills.
Job Summary The Histology Technician will support diagnostic pathology services in a fast-paced histology laboratory, performing routine and complex embedding and microtomy on biopsies and large specimens. This role primarily backfills open positions and requires efficiency, precision, and the ability to manage high specimen volumes while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Perform routine and advanced
embedding and microtomy
for biopsies and large specimens. Cut tissue sections using
manual and automated microtomes and cryostats . Handle fatty, hard, calcified, and decalcified tissues with precision. Perform paraffin wax sectioning and precision microtomy. Prepare slides for staining and perform
Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E)
staining. Operate automatic tissue processors, including dehydration, clearing, and processing agents. Maintain accurate specimen identification using histology cassettes and Epic documentation. Adhere to laboratory quality control, safety, and turnaround time standards. Support high-volume workflows (approximately
1,800 blocks/day ). Collaborate effectively with pathology and laboratory teams.
Required Qualifications ASCP-HT Certification
– Required. Minimum
2 years of histology experience . Strong expertise in
embedding and microtomy
in a high-paced laboratory environment. Proficiency with
Epic
(Excellian/Epic). Prior
travel experience
– Required. Ability to work independently on night shift. Excellent attention to detail and quality standards.

$2100 - $2260/ weekly
*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
