School Board Secretary

Bettendorf Community School District is seeking a qualified and dedicated school board secretary for the board of education. This position plays a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance and effective governance support for the district. This position is responsible for the management and administration of the affairs that are a direct responsibility of the board. Maintaining effective communications with the board members, superintendent, and administrators is a fundamental responsibility of this role.

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree or equivalent
• Knowledge of school board policies and governance preferred
• Ability to maintain a sense of order in complex situations
• Display flexibility and excellent customer service skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through

Key Responsibilities:

• Record and maintain official board minutes at all regular and special board meetings
• Maintain all official district and board records, legal notices, and contracts
• Facilitates effective governance through communication with the board
• Administer the oath of office and ensure board actions comply with legal requirements
• Maintains and disseminates official records of all board actions and serves as custodian of the minutes, archives, public records, and all supporting documents
• Execute or attest to, in the name of the board, a broad range of documents necessary for the operation of the district
• Acts as a reliable source of knowledge about all policies and requirements of the board
• Uphold strict confidentiality across diverse situations
