Job Description And Duties

As an Information Technology Specialist I you will have the opportunity to:

Plan, organize, coordinate, and participate in the development and implementation of the organizations geographic information system (GIS) to meet the organizations mapping and end-user service objectives Write comprehensive and structured code using DTSC, State and industry standard programming language and appropriate development tools Use the agile methodology to develop, test, debug, implement, and document complex systems and applications Oversee data automation and maintenance of the spatial and tabular databases of the GIS Involved in logical, detailed database design and the design and maintenance of standards related to data entry and updating Support operational deployments of ESRI technology, ArcGIS Enterprise (ArcGIS Portal (AGOL), ArcGIS Indoor) Enterprise Geodatabase (ArcSDE), and ArcGIS Pro/Desktop

Desirable Qualifications We Look For:

Extensive knowledge of ESRI products (ArcGIS Pro, Online, ArcMap, Enterprise) or equivalent GIS platforms Strong understanding of geospatial theory, projections, and spatial analysis techniques Experience managing utility geospatial data, asset systems, and infrastructure planning Skilled in data modeling, cartographic design, and web map publishing (Experience Builder, StoryMaps, Indoor Viewer) Experience with spatial/cloud databases (Snowflake, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Redshift, MS SQL, MySQL) Proficient in Python (ArcPy), JavaScript (ArcGIS API), C#, .NET for GIS customization Knowledge of HTML, CSS, REST APIs, and JSON for web GIS integration Experienced in GIS system administration (Portal, Server setup, roles, services) Current knowledge and/or experience with trends like real-time GIS, Survey123, drones, and mobile GIS Skilled in license tracking, compliance, and coordination with procurement Knowledge of Agile SDLC and DevOps tools (Azure DevOps, Git) in GIS workflows Ability to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders in fast paced or high-pressure environments Committed to continuous learning and innovation in geospatial technologies

Statement of Qualification (SOQ) Instructions

The SOQ should be no more than 1 page in length, be clearly written and well-organized, contain no more than (five) grammatical and spelling errors, single spaced, and Arial font 12 with the questions copied above the response.

Describe a GIS project you led or was a part that your contributed significantly to. What tools and datasets did you use and what was the outcome? How have you automated or optimized GIS workflow in ArcGIS? Provide an example? Have you integrated ArcGIS with other systems (Eg, database, web applications and APIs)? Describe the integration and your role.
